Grade 11 - Dream Big - Available in English ONLY

Dream Big is a new and distinctive world-class learning experience for students in Grade 10-12. Dream Big provides an experiential learning opportunity that allows participants to envision their future and understand the commitment and support needed to achieve personal potential and ultimately make a difference to self and others. The program is designed around the theme of "life as a stage." It begins with the creative process - visualizing the dream and ends with the curtain call - taking action to make dreams a reality.

The Goals of Dream Big are:

1) Provide an interactive learning opportunity for particiapnts to envision their future and understand the commitment needed to achieve success.

2) Help participants develop the attitude and practice intra and interpersonal skills required for personal success.

3) Inspire participants using the example of Tiger Woods, to become leaders of tomorrow and make a difference in our world.

The Four Modules of this Program are:

Dream Studio - This module introduces students to dreaming and visualization. It helps them to understand that picturing and describing a dream helps to give it definition and make it more real.

Scripting Your Values - This module provides students with an opportunity to share some of the key moments of their lives with each other. In identifying the moments where they felt proud, energized and at their best as well as in noticing what types of things irritate them, the students will find out new and interesting things about themselves and others. Students will be able to identify some of their key values based on their shared stories.

Directing Resistance with Your Cast of Characters - This module challenges students to meet resistance face-to-face by taking a personal inventory of forces that contribute to success and failure. Once they have determined the forces for and against their success, they will look for support in their cast of characters including Role Models, Mentors, Friends, Family and Opponents. As they receive support from those aroudn them, they will also look at the impact that they will have on others, by overcoming their fears and pursuing their dreams.

Curtain Call - This module engages students in defining the next steps toward achieving their dreams. Given their "big dreams", we prepare them for the actiosn ahead. In this module, students recreate the implications of having achieved their dream and create images that keep the dream present in their day-to-day life.

Volunteer Time Commitment for this Program: One Full Day plus 4-6 hours of training/planning.
